Blackrock Castle Observatory

Blackrock Castle Observatory is a 16th century castle located about 2km from the heart of Cork city on the banks of the river Lee.

Visit Cosmos at the Castle – Cork’s fun and exciting location to learn about the Universe! Use cinema sized video screens to explore the formation of the Universe and how life developed on Earth. Play the “Comet Chaser” in Ireland’s first interactive theatre and virtually save the Earth!

At BCO Labs a team of astronomical researchers from Cork Institute of Technology are working on Ireland’s first robotic observatory and other exciting projects. Our facilities can be hired to host your business meeting, reception, wedding, birthday or any special event. We welcome individual visitors, tour groups, and schools.

Blackrock Castle has abundant free parking adjacent to the Castle and we are only 10 minutes by car from Cork city center.
